The holidays are upon us! And it is a time to celebrate with family and friends. However, this year is obviously different from most in that we’re going to have to find our seasonal joy at a safe distance . . . with required masks on, of course. But we can still have fun. Yes, some events may be canceled, but there are a few places that you can still socially distance safely. I’m going to list five of them here.
Hi, I’m Suzanne Athey, owner of Team Athey & Remarkable Property Management. My team works hard, but we like to enjoy ourselves, too. So I set out to find holiday events from around the DFW metroplex that everyone can enjoy while practicing COVID-19 safety protocols. Grab your masks and hand-sanitizer, kids. It’s time to spark some holiday cheer in the year 2020.
- Radiance A Holiday Lights Spectacular is happening in Frisco, Weatherford and Decatur. For $30 a car you can drive through and experience a two-million-light wonderland animated to your favorite holiday music. (For $50 you can go through the special VIP lane where you’ll receive magical light glasses for the kids and hot chocolate drinks for all.) For more information. https://www.radiancechristmas.com
- Drive-Thru Dallas Zoo Lights. Stay safe and secure as you drive through a magical holiday safari of lights in your own vehicle. ($50.00 per car for members/ $65.00 per car for non-members.) - City of Lights Texas at Texas Motor Speedway is a great way to light up the night from the comfort and safety of your car. - Holiday at the Arboretum—Featuring the 12 Days of Christmas is one of Dallas’ longstanding favorites. This year more than ever thanks to its outdoor venue. Stroll around the gardens to view 25-foot tall, magnificently decorated Victorian-style gazebos representing each of the 12 Days of Christmas. At night, things become even more spectacular with over one million twinkling lights illuminating the garden. Enjoy outdoor music entertainment, shopping, food and beverages. General admission varies from $10.00 to $25.00 depending upon dates and times. Get all the details here. https://www.dallasarboretum.org/events-activities/holiday-at-the-arboretum/
- AREA 3 in Downtown Dallas. This drive-through art exhibit is certainly not your traditional holiday activity, and that’s what makes it all the more exciting. After all, this is the year to step out and do something different, right? Hosted by the Dallas-based public arts organization AURORA, the AREA 3 exhibition encompasses over 100,000 square feet of a parking garage with its fantastic array of 11 large-scale light, video, and sound installations. (Tickets are $30.00 per car.) Find out more here. https://www.10best.com/destinations/texas/dallas/downtown/attractions/area-3/
