It’s that time of year, when the weather starts to cool down and the eagles return to the East Fork Wetland!
The East Fork Wetland was created by the North Texas Municipal Water District in 2009 as a way to naturally clean water from the East Fork of the Trinity River and deliver part of that water back up to Lake Lavon to help maintain the water supply.
Since its creation, many animals and migratory birds (such as Blue Heron, Wood Stork, Blue-winged Teal, and Snowy Egret just to name a few) have moved in and called the wetland home, including a pair of nesting eagles.
To find out more about the eagles, or to watch them on the Eagle Cam, please visit the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center website, www.wetlandcenter.com, or gather up the kids and head out to the wetlands, see the eagles for yourselves, and learn more about this dynamic water resource.
