BEHIND THE SCENE
Hi, I’m Suzanne Athey, owner of Team Athey & Remarkable Property Management. In real estate it is important to stay ultra-organized. Knowing this, it is not surprising that our entire team is all about creating lists to make sure we don’t overlook a single detail. Today I’d like to share a few list-making tips with you as well as a few of our favorite lists to make. Hint. They’re not all about organization.
From gift lists to family clothing size lists to home repair lists to plain old grocery lists, and today’s “to do” lists, we all know list-making makes our daily lives run more smoothly.
But what about lists to make our futures land more closely to our present ambitions? I’m talking about lists of career objectives or personal goals. It helps to organize your thoughts about what you really want out of life.
But don’t stop there. Listing adventures you’d like to take or countries/cities you’d like to visit will allow you to start preparing now to make your dreams become a reality.
Or how about lists to keep you more centered and peaceful? For example, reading an affirmation list every morning will get your day started in the right direction. And a list of “Things That Make Me Happy” can be read for a lift whenever you’re feeling down. I know these last two are some of my favorite lists to keep.
Digital. Adhesive. Or Old School.
At Team Athey it seems we all do our list creation a little differently. From online organizational apps to adhesive notes stuck in strategic places to simple pen and paper lists, each of us have our own way of keeping organized.
I like to use an app named AnyList which keeps me digitally organized wherever I roam. It also makes it easy to share my customized lists with others. As the AnyList website reads, “Simply tap on an item to cross it off with a satisfying red strikethrough.” How’s that for keeping on task and getting things done?
But one of our team still likes old-fashioned paper and pen lists. As mentioned above, she likes to feel the satisfaction of crossing out each task she completes, but she also likes to physically carry the list with her throughout her day— keeping it close by so she can constantly see what has been done and what needs to be accomplished next.
Another member of our group swears by putting little adhesive notes in places where they’ll remind her (and us) of what she needs to do or remember. When we see her ripping down a Post-it, wadding it up and throwing it in the trash, we know she’s making headway in her life.
What about you? Do you have a penchant for lists? Please feel free to share your ideas below. Go ahead, list them out if you want. I promise I’ll read them.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already put me in your contact list for all your future real estate and leasing needs please do so now. I’d love to visit with you and answer all your questions.
